This student project was to redesign a local restaurant website. Linda’s La Cantina has been an Orlando tradition since 1947 and is regularly recognized the best steakhouse in Central Florida. They pride themselves on tradition and carrying on the art of cutting, grilling, searing steaks the same way they did in 1949. They pride themselves on being a“stable neighbor in a world of constant change”.
Due to the pandemic, Linda’s lost revenue due to restaurant closures and reduced capacity for indoor dining. Despite the return to full capacity, the restaurant had a hard year. They are looking to redesign their website in a way that attracts a new generation of diners, but still stays true to who they are and their traditions. They are the oldest operating restaurant in Central Florida and want to make sure their history is a key feature of the site.

view the WEBSITEA site analysis was conducted to assess the strengths and weakness of the current Linda's La Cantina website. Suggestions for improvement included using a consistent logo, adding an option for online reservations, adding higher quality, larger photos, and updating the color scheme.
In line with the suggestions from the site analysis, updated branding was created for Linda's. The branding was largely influenced by the restaurant’s outdoor sign. The design is fresh while staying true to the character of the restaurant. Likewise, the use of a checkerboard pattern was inspired by the classic checkerboard tablecloths inside the restaurant.
A sitemap and wireframes were created keeping much of the same content as the current site, but creating a more streamlined experience.
The final design features a mix of high quality food photography and classic restaurant photos. It keeps with the tradition and history of Linda's while appealing to a new generation of diners. Emphasize is placed on the new online reservation system with the option for diners to make reservations strategically placed throughout the site. Additionally, a new interactive menu was added in lieu of a pdf.
