This student project was to create an interactive annual report. Nava is a civic technology company that works with government agencies to make government services simple, effective, and accessible to all. Some of Nava's services include front- and back-end engineering, cloud infrastructure, product management, content strategy, and user experience. After working to fix the healthcare.gov website for almost 2 years, Nava formed as a public benefits corporation or a PBC. PBC's are for-profit entities, however they must include one or more public benefits as their statement of purpose in their company charter. This statement of purpose helps to guide all business decisions.
The annual Public Benefit Report serves to provide a comprehensive overview of the company's health and profitably to the company's shareholders and investors. Nava's shareholders are primarily past or present employees. The company has not traditionally sought any investors or venture capital, however in October 2020 they received $20 million dollars of financing from Thrive Capital. The report also serves as a tool to help win the company new work, so in that respect federal and state government agencies would also be a potential audience. This project focused on turning the annual report into an interactive fully responsive website.

view the WEBSITEIn addition to turning the annual report into an interactive website, Nava was given a brand refresh. The color palette was updated to include brighter shades. In addition, sans serif typefaces were chosen to keep the look modern.
Inspiration for the layout, interactive elements and navigation was gathered from other interactive annual reports and general websites.
Based on the contents of the annual report, a single page website with a floating side menu was chosen.
The final website design features scrolling text as well as minimal interactive elements that draw in the user without distracting from the report's message. The user can easily navigate the full report using the menu at the top of the homepage or the sticky navigation to the left on desktop and the sticky hamburger menu on mobile.
